Things Worth Keeping is an independent publication launched in January 2026 by Anwarul Islam Sifat.
I received the Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Stamford University Bangladesh in 2013, the Master of Science degree in Renewable Energy Technology from the University of Dhaka in 2017, and the Ph.D. degree from the School of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS), Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, in 2021.
I specialize in power systems monitoring using magnetoresistive sensors, data-driven stochastic transient fault detection, stability and control, and risk management. I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, from 2022 to 2023. I served as an Assistant Professor in the Phillip M. Drayer Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Lamar University, Beaumont, TX, USA, from 2023 to 2025. I am currently working as a Planning Engineer at the Electric Reliability Councilof Texas (ERCOT).
My research interests include power system engineering, applied deep learning, and embedded systems.
